BBQ Gift Tag

Coffee of the Day - Bourbon Pecan

Happy Monday to all of YOU! :)

I hope you had a most amazing weekend! mine was wonderful with my entire family together for the first time in almost 6 months. this made my momma heart VERY happy! :)

my Father-in-Law's birthday is right around Thanksgiving each year, so hubby takes a gift to him when they get together at Dave's uncle's cabin to go deer hunting.

I found this neat gift pack at World Market a few weeks ago. it has all kinds of neat seasonings and sauces for anyone who loves to cook on the barbecue grill. that fits my FIL to a tee! so I thought a fun gift tag would double as a birthday card from all of us. afterall, we are talking about guys here!!!

The digi image is from Di's Digi Stamps, plaid paper is a scrap I had so I apologize I don't know the mfg., burlap ribbon at bottom of the tag is May Arts, red burlap string is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and burlap ric rac is from my stash. vintage buttons are also stash items. sentiment stamp is by My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for stopping by! have a great week! :)

Gonna Miss U, Sweet Pea Stamps!

Coffee of the Day - Spiced Southern Pecan

Welcome to the Sweet Pea stamps Blog Hop!

This hop is from a loyal group of Sweet Pea Stamp fans who want to let Lynette know that we appreciate all her hard work bringing us the wonderful stamps in both rubber and digi format over the years.  Thanks so very much for all the wonderful images we have collected from you!

There are some random prizes along the way, as certain blog owners, myself included, have decided to include a prize, so please leave some comments along the way as you see everyone's gorgeous Sweet Pea Stamp creations.

Also, the store closes at the end of the day on the 25th, so if you see some wonderful stamps on this blog hop, today is the last day to get them, so please drop by the store! here is a great coupon to use, too. :)

You should have come here from Jane Bradshaw's oh, so fun blog! if at any point you ever get lost, you can find the complete list of hoppers over at the Sweet Pea Stamps blog.

For my card, I chose the Scarecrow Dude digi image by Sandra Caldwell. the acorn card template is by Shape EZ and paper is from Simple Stories. buttons are from my vintage stash, all flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts, leaves are from Prima, and gorgeous crochet lace can be found at Really Reasonable Ribbon. a few accents made with the white gel pen and some sticks from the yard finish off the card. :)  oh yes, the sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things.

your next stop on the hop is at my friend, Margaret Ashby's blog, better known as GranMargaret! :) I know you will love what she has made!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Altered Table Decoration for Thanksgiving

Winner at My Sheri Crafts

Coffee of the Day - Dulce De Leche

Happy Monday to all of you! and a big hello to my newest followers as well. :)

I have a fun Thanksgiving project to share with you today. it's part 2 of the gift set I began showing you last week on this post.

I mentioned that I am notorious for saving ribbon scraps. what I didn't say was that I save all kinds of things for my crafting. my project for today shows you how fun it is to re-purpose everyday items found around your home! :)

The base to this decoration is actually an almond can. the top 2 pieces are old ribbon spools that were spray painted white. Miscellaneous ribbons, Wild Orchid Crafts flowers, vintage buttons, digital scrapbook paper (from Far Far Hill), burlap and silk leaves, and foam fruit decorate the tower. touches of various stickles add sparkle and shine.

I'll fill this with a yummy nut snack mix and then hubby will give it to some friends of ours this week.

I hope you are inspired to create something fun of your own with things you have around your house! Really Reasonable Ribbon has so many gorgeous trims and ribbons to add the perfect touch! :)

Ribbons and trims used:
tower - autumn diagonal striped grosgrain, delicate stitched satin old gold, wired woven check brown/white, seam binding dusty olive, burlap string orange
card - silky crush olive, shimmer satin tangerine with gold, autumn diagonal striped grosgrain

Wild Orchid Crafts flowers:
10 mm open roses, 15 mm open roses, cosmos, cherry blossoms, rosebuds

A Fun Thanksgiving Gift

Coffee of the Day - Pumpkin Spice

Wooo Hooo! It's the weekend! So what crafty plans do YOU have?

I want to show you a fun little Thanksgiving gift I plan to give to our pastor at church tomorrow. something quick and easy and sure to please because it's food! grins!

2015-11-21 08.50.43a

Last night I made several loaves of banana nut bread. it's a great recipe because there is no sugar added, but also none of the sugar substitutes either - just all natural ingredients. it's so yummy that it doesn't last long around my house. I thought it would make a special treat for our pastor and his wife as a way of saying thank you for all that they do for our church community throughout the year.

the white jute twine was the perfect thing to wrap around the loaf for a bit of decoration. easy peasy to make a fun bow with, too! as I've said before, if this twine ever goes out of stock in the Paper Temptress store, you can be sure I had something to do with it! tee hee!  I added some sticks, feathers, and a leaf to the bow for a touch of autumn.

it was fun to create a little card to go along with the bread. I used the Desert Storm Kraft cs as a base for the leaf template by Shape EZ. it was lightly embossed, edges were inked, and then distress stickles were added for a touch of sparkle.  a cute turkey digi image from QKR Stampede was added along with vintage button, sticks from the yard, little rose from Wild Orchid Crafts, and 1/8" wine satin ribbon with gold gold edges made into a fluffy bow. All set for gift giving! :)

thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous weekend! :)

Gruffie Bear Loves Birthday Cake!

Coffee of the Day - Maple Fudge

I needed a very special birthday card for a very special young lady, so what better stamp to pull out of hibernation than one of my Gruffie Bear ones from House Mouse and Friends? I just love these bears so much! they always seem to be getting themselves into situations I find myself in, too! :)

the stamp itself is a big one, so the card is a unique size. buffalo plaid paper is a scrap, so I'm sorry I don't know the mfg. The person who will receive it loves nature and the outdoors, so I thought it fun to use the plaid paper and burlap ribbon to give it a bit more rustic feel, but still add the embellies to make it girly, too.

sentiment is from Create with TLC, button card is vintage, oval sentiment and little flag punches are by SU!, main image die is Spellbinders, tickets & balloon are from my stash, and flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts. red roses on image as well as WOC ones are covered in distress stickles.

Really Reasonable Ribbons used: Lipstick Red Seam Binding and Burlap Center Stitch Red.

Thanks for stopping by! hope you are doing well. :)

p.s. there is a Build-A-Bear gift card tucked inside this card!

A Pumpkin Shaped Card with Shabby Bow

Coffee of the Day - Maple Fudge

Hello, all of you ribbon lovers!

Today I have a cute pumpkin shaped card to share with all of you. it's actually part of a gift set. I'll be sharing the other portion with all of you next week.

My husband and sons will quickly agree with me when I tell you that I save even the smallest ribbon snippets. (I save LOTS of neat things to use on my projects, but that would be enough for another post entirely! grins!)

Have you ever cut the tail from one side of a bow that was just a smidge too long? yes, I save those. or maybe you have a piece a few inches long from the beloved piece of crochet trim that started out many yards long, but you've been using portions and parts on specials projects.

I keep all of those pieces on my craft desk so that can come to life again in what can easily be called 'shabby bows.' just gather the small pieces and tie them into your bow. it's so easy to do, but adds such a pretty, shabby chic look to your project!

Here I have used the Autumn Diagonal Stripe Grosgrain from Really Reasonable Ribbons to tie pieces of  Silky Crush Olive ribbon and Tangerine Shimmer Satin with Gold.  I also added a variety of flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts - cosmos, 10mm open roses, 15 mm open roses, and rose bud.

digital papers are by Far Far Hill, digi image is no longer available, but was from Whimsy Stamps, pumpkin card template is by Shape EZ by TLC, doily die is from Sizzix, and leaf flourish die is from Cheery Lynn. both the actual doily and the doily die cut were sprayed with kraft glimmer mist. the milk cap and buttons are vintage. sunflower centers on main image are covered in distress stickles.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I'll see you next week with the rest of this gift set. :)

Christmas Tussy Mussies with Really Reasonable Ribbon!

Coffee of the Day - Eggnog, to get in the holiday spirit!

Welcome to my stop on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog hop! As happens each month, the Design Team shares projects using one or more ribbons from the wonderful monthly ribbon kit. You will most certainly be inspired by all of the lovely projects you will see at each stop. :)

if at any point you get 'lost' along the way, feel free to head back over to the RRR blog for the full blog hop list. be sure to grab a cuppa for the road. tee hee!

you might just have come here by way of GINNY'S most fabulous blog..... doesn't she make the most gorgeous projects?! and she's a sweetie to boot!

when I saw the beautiful ribbons in the kit for this month, I knew I wanted to do something fun for Christmas with them. I decided to make some little tussy mussies using the petal cone die by SU!. this gave me a chance to not only use almost every ribbon in the kit, but to get pretty fussy, fancy, frilly, too! and who doesn't love a little chocolate for the holidays?

flowers and holly leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts. some can be found in the RRR store here. this tussy mussy uses the crochet trim in the kit, Judy, which was sprayed with walnut gold glimmer mist to give it a more vintage and shimmery look. ribbon - crosshatch on gold satin and delicate stitched satin old gold.

papers used for all tussy mussies are from the Basic Grey Juniper Berry collection. ribbon - satin with grosgrain edge light silver and random stars on light silver satin.

each tussy mussy also has tiny doilies on 2 of its sides, which were sprayed with walnut gold glimmer mist. ribbon - delicate stitched satin old gold and diagonal stripes light silver and old gold on satin.

here the white magnolias were dyed to match the paper I was using. very easy to do using an ink refill, marker, or ink pad - whatever you have on hand. :)  ribbon - random stars on light silver satin and satin with grosgrain edge light silver.

finally, each tussy mussy has a bit of sparkle compliments of crystals from Prima and beautiful beads which were knotted onto the ends with ribbon. here the gold roses are by Prima. the Judy crochet trim is again dyed with the walnut gold glimmer mist.  ribbon - delicate stitched satin old gold and crosshatch on old gold.

if you would like to see any of these photos larger, just click on them with your mouse and they will appear in another window for you. this way you can see a bit more of the detail. :)

thanks so much for stopping by and being so patient with my long post!

My Silky Crush True Love

Waving hello! :)

this is my first post as a NEWBIE over on the RRR blog! to say I'm happy would be a slight understatement! I'm still floating around on Cloud 9 that I'm a part of this most fabulously amazing team of crafters....

I confess right off the bat that I have a crush on the silky crush ribbon.... yes, it's corny, but oh, so true! you'll probably find me saying that I am in puppy love with pretty much every ribbon Bonnie has in the store, but there is just something so irresistible about this line of ribbons.... so yes, I think I ordered them all. ha!

when I received my ribbon kit for this month (okay, have to stop and go SQUEAL for a moment.... isn't it fabulous?!?!!?), I noticed how well the golds blend with the champagne silky crush. bingo! card making time!

I needed a card for some friends of ours who married, so the golds went perfectly with the blues from their color scheme. the stitched satin old gold from the kit, paired with the champagne silky crush, a pop of white from the ever so lush double faced satin ribbon, and this card is ready to go!

images are from Make it Crafty, pearl/rhinestone swirl, blue roses, and gold glitter flower are all from Prima, rose buds are WOC, and button is vintage. paper is actually a Christmas one from Basic Grey - Merrily from the Juniper Berry collection. the gold stripes were perfect for what I wanted. :) little accents of shimmerz paint were added to parts of the church as well as distress stickles to the flower centers of the frame.

Challenges (wedding card):
Crafty Calendar - Sparkle, Bling, and Embellish
Craft Rocket - pearls & gems (the flourish is actually both)

A Harvest Cornucopia with Paper Temptress!

Coffee of the Day - Spiced Pecan

Hello, everyone! Today is my first ever post as a new member of the fabby Paper Temptress Design Team! woooo hooo to that! :) I hope you are as excited as I am to see how everyone uses the fun products carried in the PT store. so much inspiration!!!

2015-10-30 18.07.45a

I decided to grab some of the Neenah Desert Storm cs to create a cute little cornucopia for Thanksgiving. I confess here and now that I am a kraft cs junkie. I go through tons of it. this particular cs has a nice weight to it without being too heavy. LOVE it! ;) easy to both die cut and emboss, which I did here. I used the Petal Cone die and Square Lattice embossing folder, both by SU!

I added bows made from the lush pink and brown reversible satin ribbon and coffee brown twine. (just a heads up, if this twine is ever sold out in the store, it will be all my fault!!! grins! this is amazing stuff!!)

2015-10-30 18.07.04a

I used the same twine to wrap around the mouth of the cornucopia as well as to tie the bag of goodies that were tucked inside. so handy! the rest of the cornucopia was decorated with pieces from a pretty leaf pick I found at my local Michael's craft store. just added a few stickles around the edges of one of the leaves to give some glim glam and then a special vintage button. the beautiful bows with PT items set it all off so nicely, don't you think? :) perfect way to dress it up but still keep the rustic, harvest-y feel!

2015-10-30 18.07.27a

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back soon with another post. :) Jennifer

Tag - You're an Advent Calendar! RRR Challenge

Winner at My Sheri Crafts

Coffee of the Day - Marzipan

Hello to all of you! and you wonder where I have been all of these days gone by.... today's project is one of the answers to that question! :)

As my first official post for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Design Team, our newest challenge is called, "Tag, Your're It." I decided to create a pocket tag Advent Calendar. I was inspired by the idea found here at Allred Design Blog.

I will only show you a few of the pocket pages today, and will post several more in upcoming posts. that way you won't get overloaded all at once! :)

Pockets were made with papers from the October Afternoon Under the Tree collection. all shades of stickles and vintage buttons were added to pockets for decoration. lots of distressing and punches, too. each pocket was edged in washi tape and kraft reinforcement stickers from The Kraft Outlet were added, not only for cuteness, but to help create a sturdier tag.

Each pocket also was trimmed with Priscilla crochet trim. tags themselves were stenciled with a homemade stencil I created using the Holly Lace Flourish die by Cheery Lynn.

each tag was also tied with either light blue, red, antique gold, ivory, or green burlap string.

It doesn't show so well in the photo, but on the above pocket, the #3 is actually covered in rock candy distress stickles. I was so upset to discover the entire line of distress stickles have actually been discontinued. insert my VERY sad face......

The base of the calendar, which is actually a fun little frame from Ikea, is tied with several kinds of ribbon - red plaid, red/green Christmas plaid, and red swiss dots.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will play along in the challenge and also pop by the other DT members' blogs to see what gorgeous things they have created to inspire you! :)

See you tomorrow!
