2 Simple Sympathy Cards

Coffee of the Day - Creme Brulee

Sadly, one of my cousins died on Easter morning. although I have to say, if I could choose, that would be the exact day I would pick to go to Heaven! oh, the rejoicing and partying going on! lots of comfort in that mental picture, I tell ya.

anyhow, I am busy making lots of sympathy cards to send to his family. I'm not one of those who can make sympathy cards ahead of time. I need to make these as I need them so I can really think and pray over each one.

I'm also a fairly slow crafter, so I'm afraid y'all are going to be seeing these for a bit. I apologize in advance for this.

I'm sharing 2 today, made with a beautiful feather image from A Day for Daisies. papers are from the Webster's Pages Painted Passport collection.

ribbons and trims are all from Really Reasonable Ribbon with the exception of burlap which is May Arts and buttons are from my vintage stash.

1st card - little banner punch and sentiment used on it are by SU!
2nd card - banner die is SU! and sentiment stamp is by Unity.

Coffee of the Day - Dulce de Leche

Today marks another final DT posting, this time being my time with Sandra Caldwell's team. as you can see, changes are taking place here on my blog. seasons come and go, and it's all good. :)

My card today uses the new image, 'Flip Flops on the Beach #363'.

This was such a fun card to make since it overflows with great embellies! paper is from the gorgeous new Carta Bella Yacht Club collection. the texture to this paper is amazing!

sentiment is by Ginger's House, stitched sun & clouds die is from La La Land, flip flops die is by Taylored Expressions, and main image/matting die is from Spellbinders. sentiment is punched with a SU! punch. flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

peacock seam binding is from Really Reasonable Ribbon, twine is leftover from some tags I had used, and polka dot grosgrain is old from my stash. shimmerz paint was used on the little shell of the main image, as was a wink of stella clear glitter pen and white gel pen.

So glad you stopped by today! hope your week is off to a great start! :)

Happy Easter!

Top 3 at {Pin}spirational Challenges
Winner at Crafty Gals Corner
Top 3 at Double D Challenges

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

A most blessed Easter morning to all of you! It is the hope of all of us at Really Reasonable Ribbon that you are surrounded by your family and friends as we celebrate this most special day! :)

The projects I am sharing with you today as similar to the ones I posted on my blog for the monthly ribbon club blog hop, is you stopped by for that. I had several requests for some of the wooden rabbits I had made, so I was busy these past few weeks getting them ready to hop to their destinations before Easter morning. ;)

The first pair were going to the same house, so ribbons and flowers are similar.

items used:  pearl pink roses with scalloped edge grosgrain, brown micro gingham, 5/8" robin's egg satin with stitched center, bay leaf seam binding, moss green gingham, ivory burlap string, parrot green netting, spring moss mini ric rac, Wild Orchid Crafts: magnolias, cosmos, lilies, rosebuds, hip rosebuds, daffodils, aster daisies, light turquoise open roses, and leaves.

The next bunny was going to a home that had a similar color pattern, but I tried to mix up the ribbon choices a bit. this wooden rabbit is larger than the other ones. it was already packed up and mailed when I realized I didn't get the measurements of it. to give you an idea, it's actually larger than the aqua rabbit above.

items used: pearl pink roses with scalloped edge grosgrain, brown micro gingham, aqua seam binding, aqua gingham plaid, celery gingham plaid, ivory burlap string, Wild Orchid Crafts: magnolias, cosmos, cottage roses, daffodils, rose buds, mini sweetheart blossoms, and leaves.

I used vintage buttons for the eyes and tails. the little cards are from Cameo Shoppe.

Don't forget to play along in our 'Welcome Spring with Ribbon or Trim' challenge! we'd love to see what you make! :)

Easter Joy Bunnies

DT Favorite at Sasayaki Glitter
Top 3 Pick at Scribbles Designs

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

I'm sad to say that today is my last day posting as a DT member with Paper Temptress. I'm so very thankful to Patricia and Melanie for allowing me this wonderful opportunity. It's been a fun ride! :)

Believe it or not, my final card does NOT contain any Desert Storm Kraft card stock anywhere on it! shut the front door! I know y'all are in shock.... I was, too, when I made it, but I went for this gorgeous aqua instead. mind you, the Desert Storm will always be my fave, so you had better stock up! you'll fall in love with it just like I did! it's so multi-purpose!

my card base is the lovely spring Aqua BASIS with the edges inked in white craft. aqua mini ric rac from Really Reasonable Ribbon and  natural jute twine were tied in a bow around the decorative paper by Authentique. flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts and pretty sentiment is by Shady Tree Studios. oh yes, the cute bunny image is and old one by Sandra Caldwell, and the girl bunny's bow is accented with the wink of stella clear glitter pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! enjoy your weekend! :)

Candy Easter Baskets

Coffee of the Day - Cinnabon (a very nice person sent me this K-cup! so yum!)

Since all of my kiddos are going to be away for Easter this year, I made a fun type of Easter basket for each of them. I found the idea through a friend's Facebook page and then followed the link to this blog post. my baskets are a modification of these.

Each basket is different and tailored to the recipient. Dave and I had to go to a special candy warehouse on the other side of Cleveland in order to find the laffy taffy ropes. it was about a 1 1/2 hour drive just to get there, but what a cool place! couldn't find the candy ropes in any stores around here, but then we do live in an itty bitty town. I like the ropes braided the way I did them here. :)

Baskets are tied with plaid ribbons and baker's twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon. each one sports the fave colors of the person receiving it.

had to make a basket for Tyler's girlfriend, too. :)

I sure do appreciate you stopping by my blog today! have a great day!

An Altered Almond Can for Easter

Top 3 Pick at Through the Craft Room Door

Coffee of the Day - Caribbean Hazelnut

I made quite a few gifts to either send out or give away for Easter this year. the one I'm sharing today is something Tyler will be taking with him tomorrow as he heads to PA for a visit with his girlfriend's family.

I have altered another almond can, this time for Easter. it is filled with yummy pastel M&M's. I hope they like it! :) if nothing else, they will enjoy the treats inside!!!

someday I will think to take step by step photos, but I'm usually on a time crunch when making these. sorry, for those of you who have asked in the past. will try to do it the next time I make one.

decorative papers are all from various collections by Basic Grey, silk flowers were purchased at Michael's & Pat Catan's, and mulberry flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. buttons are from my stash.

ribbons & trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon include:
yellow circus dots
pink silky crush
violet burlap string
Elise crochet lace

you can't really tell from the photo, but I used a pretty doily die from Sizzix under the ribbon spool and outlined several of the pieces in stickles. yes, the bag of M&M's really does fit inside! :)

thanks so much for stopping by! I'll see you tomorrow with another Easter project.

Love All of This Coffee!

Coffee of the Day - Blueberry Cinnamon

It's Monday so you know it's time for a new Sandra Caldwell image! and this one is so perfect for the Spring Coffee Lover's Blog Hop, too! :) with everything that is going on around here, I haven't been able to participate the way I would like to, but I do have this one coffee themed card I want to link up with all of the other lovely cards you'll see.

The image is called 'Coffee Hut #359' and will soon be in Sandra's Etsy store. I added a few little touches to several of the coffee cups.

papers and sticker embellishments are from the Basic Grey Hillside collection. I also added part of a Starbucks coffee cozy. ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon include coral rose grosgrain, emerald plaid, and palos verdes baker's twine.  a white Wild Orchid Crafts apple blossom with 30mm leaf was added along with vintage buttons.

I'm sending this card to a special someone in the Coffee Loving Papercrafts Facebook group who sent me a wonderful package of various flavors of K-cups a few weeks ago. oh my gosh, they were so yummy!!!! :) I thought this would make a nice thank you card to a fellow coffee lover.

get ready, because this week I'll be posting a lot of Easter projects! have a great day! :) and thanks for stopping by!

Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Macadamia Nut

It's been quite the emotional week around here, with a very sick dog and a few other things going on. but I did need to get a card made for Mick to go with his Easter present. (I'll share photos of that in a day or so...)

The Outlawz group has a progressive challenge going on right now, and this fun bunny rabbit was given to anyone who wanted to play along. it comes from Gerda Steiner Designs and just made me smile! :)

Mick is quite the hipster, although he would be the first to deny it. that is a sure sign of being a hipster! notice his goatee and long sideburns.... I typed out the sentiment on the computer.

paper is from Authentique, dies are by Spellbinders, buttons are vintage, and ribbons & burlap string are from Really Reasonable Ribbon. a piece of torn corrugated cardboard was inked and added. some faux stitching completes the card.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Winner at A Bit More Time to Craft
Best Technique Winner at Champion of Champions Worldwide Challenge

Coffee of the Day - Irish Creme

I would like to say Happy St. Patrick's Day to each of you! I hope you have your green on today. :) if not, grab a smidgen of green ribbon you picked up in the Really Reasonable Ribbon store, pin it to your lapel, and you'll be good to go!

To get you in the mood for festivities later in the day, I'm sharing with you an altered project I made for one of my sons. He saw it while it was a 'work in progress' in my craft room, so  he actually thinks it was made for his brother. what a sneaky mom I can be when I need to be! grins!

I started with a wooden shamrock wall hanging I found on the JoAnn's website. I did quite a bit of work on it to get it ready to alter. I sanded off all of the glitter and added many coats of paint of different shades of green with some browns in between.

papers are from the Authentique Charmed collection, with a ripped piece of a paper bag thrown in for good measure! felt shamrock was from Michael's a few years ago, little applique is vintage as are the buttons, and flair buttons were found at the dollar store. fun vintage dog image is from an Etsy store called Vintage by Me. I actually burned the edges before adding it to the collage. beer stein die is from Find It Media.

plain cotton blend ribbon was tied and added to the shamrock face, green burlap string was tied in a bow around the stem, and 5/8" emerald green gingham plaid ribbon is used for the hanger. I did add some kraft ink to the gingham to age it a bit.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! have fun celebrating!

Coffee of the Day - Vanilla Macadamia Nut

Sharing another St. Patrick's Day card with all of you, this one with an image from Aurora Wings. He is the 'Whimsical Leprechaun with Shamrock' and always makes me smile. :)

I added a felt shamrock from Michael's that was inked a bit to help tone down the brightness of the green, once again the paper is from the Authentique Charmed collection, both ribbons are the lime juice grosgrain from RRR with the bow being tied with the olive burlap string. a few sequins complete the card. little touches with distress stickles, a white gel pen, and the wink of stella glitter pen to the main image.

Raising an Irish Mug to Ya

Coffee of the Day - Maple Fudge

for the next few days, I'll be sharing a few St. Patrick's Day cards I've made to send off to my sons away at school. We love St. Patty's Day here at our house! :)

Today's card uses an image from MelJen's, although she no longer sells her images anywhere. it's called "Irish Brew." the little strip of torn paper & banner are from the Authentique Charmed collection. can you tell how much I have loved using papers from that collection this season? it really is wonderful if you can get your hands on any before it sells out.

the other day when I was making my Irish Coffee card, I knew I was going to need those cutey little shamrocks. but I am a paper hoarder when it comes to the card stock from Paper Temptress. I don't have that much, so I use it very sparingly. I came up with the idea to put the Memory Box die across the bottom of the Olive BASIS card so it created a little cut out. this way I was able to get the die cuts I needed for the other card, but also get a fun effect on this card! cool! :) I highlighted the shamrocks with the same craft ink I used for the edges.

card base was also sprayed with olive glimmer mist. as you can see, someone in the family made the sacrifice to drink a Guinness so I could use the label and bottle cap here on the card. ;) pretty lime juice grosgrain ribbon from RRR was added to the label along with a vintage button tied with olive burlap string.

this was my first time using liquid applique, and I confess mine is fairly old. it was fun, so I'll definitely try it again! sure adds a lot to the foam on the beer stein! :)

enjoy your day and I'll see you back here again tomorrow!

Challenges:

It's now time to share my mid-month post for Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra. because of the time difference I have to post my card the evening of the 14th so it coincides with the post going live in the UK on the 15th. ;)

Our challenge is always sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps, but  mid-month DT projects can feature images from anywhere.

An Altered Wooden Easter Bunny for the RRR Blog Hop

Top 3 Pick at Crafting Musketeers

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake (just seemed appropriate!)

Welcome to my stop on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog hop! as we do every month for the hop, the DT shows projects made with the fun ribbon club kit. if at any time you ever get lost while hopping, just head back to the RRR blog for the complete list. plus you will want to stop there at the end for your chance to win your very own set of the monthly ribbons! :)

you should have landed here from GINNY's wonderful blog. she always has such neat projects, doesn't she?! :)

our oldest son, Tyler, is going to spend Easter with his girlfriend and her family. he is even going to meet the 'grands' so this is BIG! I made a little something for him to take to her grandparents.

I found this little wooden bunny on the JoAnn's website. actually I first saw it in their sale flyer, but couldn't find it the one time I was able to get to a store. so I ordered it online. I knew it would be fun to fix up!

you can see the various ribbons from the monthly club kit that I used. I also added my fave Wild Orchid Crafts magnolia (I added a bit of watercoloring to make the color match), aster daisies, cosmos, tiny rosebuds, and a sweetheart blossom. I also used a bit of  the iridescent string to tie on the little tag, but it is currently out of stock in the store. you could easily use any of the wonderful burlap or jute strings that Bonnie currently has.  or even some of the thicker baker's twine. :) you could really go for fun with the metallic gold or silver!

the pretty floral tag is from a great new vintage digital company I have found on Etsy called Cameo Shoppe. I promise you will be seeing much more from them on upcoming posts! their sheets print out so crisp and clean! bark heart is from Live and Love Crafts and the safety pin is a found treasure from Tyler's girlfriend. I thought she would appreciate seeing it on here! ;) she is always picking up little goodies for me to use on my projects. what a sweetie!

----> I'm adding another bunny project at the last minute because my youngest son, who has been home this past week for Spring Break, asked me to make one for his girlfriend after seeing this one.

I used this larger aqua wooden bunny from JoAnn's and another tag from the same digital sheet by Cameo Shoppe. here I used the yellow gingham plaid ribbon from the monthly club kit, the aqua version of the pink scalloped edge roses grosgrain found in the ribbon kit, iridescent string, 1/8" pink diagonal stripe ribbon, and light pink mini ric rac for the bow.

parrot green netting is the base for the floral arrangement made of WOC chrysanthemums, lilies, hip rosebuds, and daffodils, a 30mm leaf was added to the daffodil at the bunny's ears.

your next stop on this fun hop is at the most amazing blog of AMBER. you know she is going to have something fabulous to knock your socks off! :)

thanks so much for stopping by!

Irish Coffee for the Day

Coffee of the Day - Irish Creme

It's another lovely Saturday, and I'm here to share a St. Patrick's Day card with all of you for my Paper Temptress post.

I started with a base of BASIS olive cs, inking the edges. being me, you have come to expect that SOMEWHERE I am going to use the Desert Storm Kraft cs, aren't you?! c'mon..... you know it wouldn't be the same if I posted a card without it! ;) so I made a fun banner using my fave kraft, adding little shamrocks cut with a Memory Box die from the same olive cs as the base.

when it came time to add some ribbon, I was stumped because I didn't have any green from the Paper Temptress store. hmmmmm..... what to do? the 5/8" rainbow opulence ribbon to the rescue! I cut a snippet that was in the orange/yellow/green range, and it was perfect! :) you  never know what will happen when you need to improvise!

papers are from the Authentique Charmed collection, sentiment is by Create with TLC, and the Irish coffee cup image is by Jennifer Nilsson/Doodle Garden, although she no longer sells her digis. flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and buttons are from my vintage stash. the froth on the coffee was covered in rock candy stickles, and I forget every time that it causes the inks to run. so please forgive the smoodges....

Have a great weekend! :)  Jennifer

Challenges:
Outlawz Greeting - add a little green
Brown Sugar - green & gold
Pattie's Creations - anything goes with green

papers are from the Basic Grey Kneehighs collection, mini sweetheart blossoms are from Wild Orchid Crafts, baby pink seam binding & pink burlap string are both from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and buttons are from my vintage stash. main image die is by Spellbinders and larger die is by SU!.  a wink of stella clear glitter pen was used on her hair bow for some sparkle. :) the little sentiment is an SRM Stickers product.

Coffee of the Day - Carrot Cake

Hippity Happity Hoppity Monday to you!

March is a very busy month for getting crafty, between St. Patrick's Day and Easter. the Really Reasonable Ribbon DT always has plenty of projects created to inspire you for whatever you happen to have sitting on your crafty table! :)

I am sharing a pair of Easter cards I created using some pretty downloads from Polly's Paper Crafts (who so graciously sponsored us last month) and products from the RRR store.

I used images from the Easter Kids Button cards, distressing the edges.

the blue card is topped with 5/8" bluebird gingham plaid ribbon tied in a bow with the delicate Sharon crochet lace.

the pink card uses Sherbet Delicate Stitched Satin ribbon tied with the same Sharon crochet lace.

I also added the gorgeous WOC Magnolias, Aster Daisies, Open Roses, Cosmos, and Sweetheart Blossoms for a lovely floral touch.

the banners for both are free printables from Live, Laugh, Rowe. as soon as I saw them, I knew they would make the perfect backing for these cutey button cards! :) little bunny & bow dies are by Tim Holtz and the grass one is from My Favorite Things. buttons, as almost always, are from my vintage stahs. beautiful sentiment stamp is from Shady Tree Studio. I do so miss Nancy's stamps and treasure the ones I have.

I do hope you will join our current challenge, "Show Me the Green with Ribbons or Trims." we would love to have you play along! :)

There is also a DT call currently going on! You KNOW you would just LOVE to be part of this amazing team! :) hurry on over to get the deets on how to submit your application! it has truly been one of the kindest and most supportive group of people I have ever had the honor to serve with on a Design Team! :)
